Built on Research, Driven by Innovation

Rovixus BV was founded in 2023 as a spin-off from the Visual Computing group at UHasselt (Hasselt University), Belgium. The company was established by prof. dr. Frank Van Reeth and Kurt Van Aelst, combining decades of academic research with hands-on industrial experience.

The name Rovixus stands for Robotics, Vision, and Nexus — reflecting our three core pillars. We hold an exclusive software license from UHasselt for real-time robot control technology, enabling us to develop controllers and robotic systems that are 100% designed and manufactured in Belgium.

Our mission is to make industrial robotics more accessible, more precise, and more intelligent — bridging the gap between cutting-edge research and real-world manufacturing.

Three Pillars of Excellence

Robotics

We design and build microcontroller-based industrial robots, including 6-axis robotic arms and delta robots. Our systems are built for precision, speed, and reliability in demanding production environments.

Vision

Using AI-driven camera vision, we detect and localize objects on the production line — determining where parts are positioned, how they are oriented, and whether they meet quality standards. From cap placement to component alignment, our vision systems turn raw camera images into precise, actionable data for automated decision-making.

Nexus

A connection or series of connections linking two or more things. Nexus represents our ability to connect the digital and physical world — integrating simulation, real-time control, and industrial communication into one seamless ecosystem.

Hybrid Virtual Twin Technology

Our proprietary Hybrid Virtual Twin technology combines digital simulation with physical hardware in real time. This allows operators to visualize, test, and validate robot programs in a virtual environment before deploying them to the factory floor — eliminating costly trial-and-error and reducing downtime.

By leveraging VR and AR visualization, our system provides an intuitive interface for programming and monitoring industrial robots, making advanced automation accessible even to operators without deep programming expertise.

Industrial Communication

Our controllers currently run on a custom-built communication protocol, tailored to our robotic systems. Through our experience with EtherCAT-based servo drives, Modbus TCP/IP, and RS485, we have built a solid foundation in industrial fieldbus technology. We are now working towards integrating a proven, high-performance industrial protocol into our control platform — for fast, deterministic cycle times in demanding automation environments.

Real-Time Control

Deterministic cycle times for precise, synchronized motion control across all robot axes.

🎨

VR / AR Visualization

Immersive simulation and monitoring interfaces that bridge the gap between virtual and physical.

🔒

Safe Deployment

Validate programs in simulation first, eliminating risks of untested code on the factory floor.
